Babyjoy, whose real name is Joy Grant, switches effortlessly between rap and R&B – and writes lyrics trilingually: in German, French and English. “I’m a Berliner, I grew up in Schöneberg,” she tells Berliner Zeitung in an interview. “That’s a big part of my identity.” Meant to be: Berlin slang, local rap connections and features with scene favorites like Ahzumjot and Badchieff come naturally to her; her new EP was produced by her childhood friend KazOnDaBeat.
